This is another LCD monitor modified for reducing the electromagnetic emissions. This particular monitor has a 21.5" 16:9 display but the screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, which is Full HD. The input is VGA or DVI. The backlight has been replaced with a 12 V LED strip. The mainboard is enclosed in a thick aluminum box. All the parts are powered with a linear power supply. The frame is made of solid walnut wood and the back is made of okume plywood. The wooden frame was needed because the original plastic and metal frame could not be reused with the aluminum box on the back. Respect to last year we have moved the metal enclosure of the main electronic board partially inside the stucture, and covered it with wood panels to protect it more.
The results for the reduction of the electromagnetic emissions are very good, and the brightness of the display is also quite high. In this case the power supply has been designed and built to provide also the DC voltage for other small desktop devices, like the optical USB cable, the speakers set, or a desk lamp. This monitor size is perfect for all office and design work, and also for watching videos and movies.
The power supply of this monitor provides also a separate 5V 3A exit and a separate 12V 1A exit, which can be used to power other devices on the desk. For example the 5V exit can be used to power the terminal of an optical USB cable, while the 12V exit can power a speaker set or a LED desk lamp. The fourth cable is to provide 5V DC to an optical HDMI device to be used with the monitor. Of course the power supply box is supposed to be on the floor at some distance from the desk, near a wall socket. For more information about this project contact us.
